Punchout using cXML via the Procuterra Integration Network allows customer and vendor accounts to independently maintain network passwords without the need for sharing it with each other. The Procuterra Integration Network takes care of authenticating both customer and vendor.
The customer has to setup the vendor as a punchout vendor and the vendor has to open access to the customer, thus establising the punchout tunnel.

Once both parties are identified and the punchout relationship validated, EIN handshakes the two systems and allows direct communication to begin and the customer's users can start shopping on vendor's catalog site.

Once the shopper is done shopping, the cart can be securely transferred to the customer's purchasing system for processing.
